In my COMM 250 class I am keeping a journal of things I've learned in this class. So here is my first post.
Why I am taking this class:
I'm taking this class because over 3 years ago I used to work night freight at Broulims grocery store and while working there I met a friend named Travis who was an Organizational Communications Major. Every night until morning he would tell me all these amazing principles he learned in his ORG COMM classes. This caused me to be very interested to take one of these classes. Recently found out my Media Law teacher Br. Gibb teaches this class. Br. Gibb is probably my 2nd favorite teacher I've had at BYU-I, my favorite would obviously be Br. Inama. What's interesting is I've never met Br. Gibb because I took Media Law on-line, however it amazes me when a teacher responds to a plethora of never ending emails with stupid questions and every reply is a positive and very helpful response encouraging more emails. Last semester I had a teacher who every time I walked in his office, he had the face of "I really don't want to help you, neither do I have time to help you". It's these teachers who make me really appreciative of the rare teachers who don’t turn away help, even yet don’t just offer help when asked—they take it another step further and encourage students to ask them for help. I've already taken all of Br. Inama's political science classes, yet he is still one of my first stops for help when stuck on a different teacher's assignment. Actually I'm not even sure when was the last time I was in Br. Inama's office asking help for one of his classes. :-)
So what's my point ----> when I found out a good teacher was teaching a very interesting course, I jumped for the opportunity!
